Have you ever caught your dad drinking that black and creamy looking Irish beer before? The chances are it's a stout, a dad that drinks a stout, loves a stout! You see, this is where craft beer really flourishes because the stout flavour combinations are endless! The flavours range from Banana & Coconut and Peanut Butter milk to Millionaire Salted Caramel and Mexican Hot Chocolate to name a few. Here are our top picks from our collection:
- Broken Dream Breakfast Stout, ABV 6.5% - Yes you read correctly, a breakfast stout! "Brewed by Siren, Broken Dream is smooth, unctuous and moreish. It's an indulgence of chocolate and speciality malts and is brewed with milk sugar for balance and mouthfeel, along with carefully selected espresso from London's Climpson & Sons." Sounds delicious right?
- Stout Brummie Oatmeal Stout, ABV 4.8% - Is your dad not too keen on his sweet treats? Then oatmeal might be the better option. "British roasted Floor Malts with wholesome Oatmeal, earthy and floral traditional hops to leave you with a heartwarming, full-bodied richness." While this beer does include oatmeal, probably not the best idea to have it for breakfast...
- Common Grounds Coffee Porter, ABV 5.4% - Is your dad a coffee lover? Well, add this into your box and see if he prefers his coffee straight up or in a beer! "Common Grounds Coffee Porter, is a full-bodied, decadently smooth coffee beer in collaboration with Dark Woods. 7 different malts combine with 7 different coffees added at 3 different points during the brew to create a sweet toffee, rich fruit and chocolate depth, accented with notes of vanilla, and hazelnut. A coffee beer designed with texture, aroma and deliciousness in mind." Sounds incredible!
If your dad drinks beer, the chances are he's had a few Lager's along the way. The term "Lager" comes from German for "storage", as the beer was stored before drinking - traditionally in cool caves. Fun fact: Lagers can be pale, amber, or dark. Pale lager is the most widely consumed style of beer.

- Stirchley Lager Dry Hopped Lager, ABV 4.4% - "What makes a Stirchley Lager? British Floor Malts, dry hopped for pine and citrus undertones to give an uplifting and crisp taste." The citrus undertone makes me want to drink this beer like it's water!
- Everyday Lager Low Alcohol, ABV 0.5% - "Great tasting Lager for anywhere anytime – Using only the best organic ingredients Fortitude have created a light, golden in colour, medium palate, Malty Lager with a subtly hoppy aftertaste that is vegan and gluten free – A real easy drinker and under 40 calories a can!" Just because your Dad is the designated driver doesn't mean he has to miss out on all the action! Why not add in a low alcohol option so he can still enjoy the great taste of craft beer while doing the everyday things.
Indian Pale Ales are widely known to be associated with craft beer. Wonder why IPA's are brewed stronger than traditional beer? Back in the 1800's, they were originally exported from India (hence the name), so, to ensure they lasted the voyage, the alcohol percentage was increased.
- Cannonball IPA, ABV 7.4% - "Cannonball, brewed by Magic Rock, is an Indian Pale Ale (IPA) in the true tradition, high in alcohol and massively hopped to survive a long sea voyage. Tropically fruity, resinous hops compete against a sweet malty backbone, while a rasping bitterness builds to a mouth puckering crescendo." Cannonball IPA is our best selling craft beer, we recommend picking this up if your Dad likes a challenge. Just be careful, it can be a kicker!
- Bloody 'Ell, Blood Orange IPA, ABV 5.5% - "Bloody 'Ell Blood Orange IPA, brewed by Beavertown is a smack of citrus with hints of warm blood orange aromas brought on by refined malt bill and loads of juicy hops." If you've tried an IPA it doesn't have to be intimidating. Bloody 'Ell is more welcoming with its orangey citrusy hops. Unlike Cannonball, you don't have to worry about what you've got to do later!
- Hop, Skip & Juice, Hazy Pale Ale, ABV 5.7% - "A tropical pale ale with heavy does of citrusy Simcoe to get the lips hopping. A delicate drop of Citra BBC to start mouths skipping and enough juice all around to leave you jumping through to the soft bitter finish." This one is our favourite! With that hazy tropical aroma, this one leaves you craving for more. We highly recommend this one if you're out drinking in the sun!
